Bulldog Stadium- Fresno, CA VS. Candlestick Park
If you are a big football fan(I am talking American Football) and you only had the opportunity to go to either a College Football game or an NFL game, which would you choose. For me, that is one of the easiest choices that I could make. I have actually been to both college football games and one NFL game and the atmospheres are totally different at each. My choice if I had to choose would be to attend a big time college football game over an NFL game. In this article I will highlight the reasons why I would choose to go to a College football game, as well as tell you about my one experience at an NFL game and how I did not enjoy the experience.
Before I get into a lot of details about why I prefer a college football game over an NFL football game, you first need to find out how I was raised to appreciate college athletics so much more then professional athletics. I was born in Fresno, California and as I grew up my dad took me to all kinds of different sports at Fresno State. I especially loved football and baseball, but my dad wanted to emphasis a deep love for all sports. So, along with football and baseball he also took me to see softball, volleyball, soccer(men's and women's), swimming, diving, and even horseback riding. Through all of these sports I came to love Fresno State and especially Fresno State athletics. I know that Fresno State is not a big time academic school; like Duke, Stanford, or Harvard, or even a powerhouse athletic school; like Michigan, Ohio State, or Miami, but I have seen a few big time shining moments at Fresno State that make me proud to say that I am a bulldogs fan. The two moments that stand out for me the most were the 1998 National Champion Women's Softball team and the 2008 National Champion Men's baseball team.
Seeing Fresno State win two National Championships was such a thrill, the words cannot describe how proud and fortune I am. Along with these two National Championships I have also seen a lot of very good Fresno State football team as well. Even though they have never been a powerhouse in football or any other sport for that matter the football team has beaten a lot of very good football teams. They have beat the likes of Oregon State, USC, Georgia Tech, Boise State, and many other national powerhouses. Along with seeing a lot of good teams beat up on the powerhouse teams I have also had the privilege to see some great coaching and players don the Red and Blue. Some of these players and coaches can be seen in the pictures below.
